Instructions to Resize Images, Zip and Send

This is a brief tutorial on how to resize images, zip them up and email them.

  1. Open Windows Explorer (click on start, go to All Programs, Accessories... if you haven't moved it Windows Explorer should be there
  2. Go to the folder where you pictures are. In our example, we are going to the Lydias Pics folder inside our My Pictures folder

  3. Click on View and Select Details. It is Easier to select if you have a lot of pictures

  4. Select all of the pictures. There are a couple of ways you can do this. If all you have in the folder are the pictures you are going to resize, click on one of the pictures and then hit Ctrl A (the Ctrl key and the letter A at the same time). You can also just Left Click the mouse and hold the left button down while you select all of the photos. When you have them selected they should all be blue

  5. With the pictures selected position your cursor over them and RIGHT click (not Left). This will bring up a popup menu. On the popup menu select Resize Pictures

  6. The size selected should be Small (fits a 640 x 480 screen). Click on the Advanced button

  7. Click on the option to Make the pictures smaller but not larger

  8. Select only the pictures with (Small) in the name. Right click (not Left). This will bring up a popup menu. On the popup menu Highlight Send To and click on Compressed (zipped)Folder

    If a warning window pops up with the Compressed (zipped) folder message just click on Yes.

  9. Go to your email program and send me the zipped file as an attachment
